1 cup black beluga lentils
4 cubes of frozen crushed garlic
2 cups of no sodium vegetable stock
5 lime leaves
1 whole head of cauliflower
1 tablespoon of crushed Turkish red pepper (Maras/Aleppo)
- salt/pepper to taste
Bring to a boil and let simmer for 30 minutes.
I ate this with a Persian cucumber, tomato and avocado salad.
♥ I love this cover of Vogue. My new obsession…..Taylor Swift’s new haircut. Coincidentally, I just visited my hairdresser last night. I asked for Taylor’s bangs and even so much as popped the magazine photo out of my bag. Unfortunately, my hairdresser knows me well and asked, “Are you really going to spend 10-15 minutes blow drying your bangs everyday?” So……I didn’t get Taylor’s bangs but I did venture into new ground by getting shorter, side-swept bangs. I love my new look and my silky caramel highlights! ♥
♥ So I just finished reading, The White Queen by Philippa Gregory and I absolutely loved it. I have to admit that I was reluctant to read it at first because I am not much of a fan of historical novels. However, I was hooked in the first five pages. I found myself engrossed in the relationship with Edward and Elizabeth and the tumultuous events around them. My favorite line in the book is “Bed, wife.” This is another must read from Philippa! ♥
♥ Every month I become obsessed with something new. This month, I am obsessed with beautiful flowers such as these pictured above. With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, I find myself loitering around the flower stands in Whole Foods, sticking my nose in each and every bloom. The aromatic hyacinth remind me of the upcoming Persian New Year, the colorful tulips remind me that spring is just around the corner, and the delicate violets remind me why I love, so much, being a girl. ♥
♥ I imagine waking up in a beautiful cottage, somewhere far in the French countryside. The warm breeze blowing through an open window and outside, a field full of these beautiful lavender flowers. There is nothing to do today but lay around, reading a romance novel while sipping on hot chocolate and nibbling on pastel macarons from Laduree. ♥
